Carassia Brut Rosé: Romanian Sparkling wine

Carassia Brut Rosé is a sparkling wine which enliven successfully any event. Everybody enjoy it, it is pleasant to drink and can be associated with diverse culinary selection in any season. I served it as appetiser at the celebration of 20 years from my University graduation which took place last week in Athenee Palace Hilton in Bucharest and, as never before, I ordered too little. It looks very sensual in the flute while the wine tastes fresh, elegant and good.

Carassia Brut Rosé is obtained from Pinot Noir exclusively, pressed directly after the harvest, limiting the skin contact. The method is the traditional one, the same used in Champagne . After the wine have fermented it was bottled in the specific bottle for sparkling where the second fermentation occurred. The wine spent 2 years on lees until the oenolog, Bereczki Csaba, considered that it was ready for consumption.

It has obvious flavors of raspberry coming from the red wine and a very fine lees note. The effervescence dissolves pleasantly as a foam wrapping and and stirring up the palate. Fruity, it has full body while the acidity is in harmony with the effervescence. Nothing disturb the pleasant sensation. There are some discreet tannins present reminding of a light summer wine, alive and exciting. A joyful rose which opens up the appetite.

Carastelec winery, where Carassia Brut Rose is made, is situated in Transylvania, in the NW part of Romania, in Sălaj district. It is a brand new investment built to produce sparkling wine. The region is a traditional one for viticulture, Crișana, with a cold continental climate laying at 47 degrees Northen Hemisphere. The vineyard is planed in an amphitheater with southern exposure.

Carassia Brut Rosé was awarded with silver  in 2017 at The Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championship  by a jury of recognized experts in sparkling wines Tom Stevensson, Essi Avellan MW and Dr. Tony Jordan. The wine is easy to find in good restaurants, at www.comenzi-sampanie.ro and in specialized stores around the country.
